I'm sort of getting started with some Flash...I plan to do some animated cartoons in the not-too-distant future. Most of you have seen how crap-tastic I am with Flash so far, so I'm asking for some help/advice.
But for now, I want to start with something somewhat easy like :

I had to do some thread digging to find that Quizno's sub thread from a few months ago..I figure if those guys can make money doing crap like that, then I might actually have a chance at making some money (or at least entertaining someone other than myself) when I start animating my cartoons.
Anyone know what is involved?
What the hell is a Tween?
Is FlashAMP very good?
Are there any plugins for Flash MX that add more drawing/line options?
How do you do cartoon/cell shading/anime type/monochromatic coloring in Flash?
Got any links to some good tutorials? I'm like...A super beginner...
Flash Crappage.

My advice to learn how to use it is just mess around for a while, but tweening can be confusing if you don’t know what you're dealing with. Here’s a decent tutorial on some basic stuff.

If you mess around with it for a while you will inadvertantly learn many key features (test every button). Otherwise, it's kinda like Photoshop with keyframes.
I suggest trying to be as organized as possible when you are actually trying to make something, make as many layers as you want and don't be afraid to make folders in the library to sort your tweens/btn's/mc's/graphics etc...

I was never startled with Photoshop's interface like I am with Flash...But I've used Photoshop since v2.5, and I know my way around it quite well.
I used Flash 5 a few times to make animated company logos and navigation menus, but I've forgotten everything I once knew. I know HTML like the back of my hand, still, but I can't remember a program I used less than 2 years ago.

I've been Flashing for two and a quarter years, and my advice is: after two and a quarter years you'll be good enough to release decent content.
The second type of tween in Flash is a shape tween, which will change one shape to another. To create a shape tween you gotta bring up the frame properties window and so forth... But basically a shape tween mutating a shape.
Lots of (pretty much all) 3D animation is done using tweens, though more complicated ones than the above. In .FLAnimation though, tweens are considered as shortcuts and are frowned upon - not by me, but by the general Newgrounds community, and I don't know why - so what if the animator uses tweens to get his point across?
Anywho, happing Flashing - maybe show us your stüf sometime.

A Tween is computerised animation. Say you've got a circle in your first frame. Then you insert a keyframe on fram twenty. If you right click in the area between frame 1 and 20, or on frame 1 itself, you will see the 'create motion tween' function. This will make the computer work out the animation between those two frames.Extreme Drinker wrote:What the hell is a Tween?
