On the average day.
How many gunshots do you hear in the average day? I usually hear 2 or 3. Just now (7:20AM) I heard 6 in rapid succession...It's 5 minutes later, and now I hear sirens.
My grandma's woken up at her house a few miles away with bullet holes in her walls and a stray bullet 3 inches from her head imbedded in her pillow.

I've heard gunshots once, at about 04:00 just as I went to bed.
As I looked out me window I saw some punk being chased by coppers.
But that is the one and only time. It (and my window, Yay) made the national news.
Sweden is a rather peaceful country I suppose.

Heh Ryno , you live in the ghetto or something , or it's more or less like this in all america ?
In my parent's home I have never heard any shots , in my work environment I usually hear around a thousand a day, but it's not a civilian area so it shouldnt count.
Why are you asking all this ?

Not where I live now but I have lived in an area that got pretty rowdy on the warmer weekends. It was just off a main road and occasionally there would be turf wars between neighborhood crack-houses. Now I mostly live in the nightlife district so I have to contend with the noise from the drunks at closing time. Much worse IMO.

I've heard gunshots around here once. It was about a year ago, and around one AM to the north-eastish I heard a shot then a brief pause followed by a couple others. Sirens shortly after.

I hear them on a fairly regular basis. I live in NW OKC, considered the "dark" part of town. My grandmother lives in SW OKC, considered "Little Mexico."
When I lived in the suburbs, I never heard any..But moved to the city a few years ago, and it's a daily thing. Just wondering if anyone else lived in an area like this. I think it's kind of cool, really.
The convenience store on the corner of my street was robbed a while back while I was there. It was funny. The dudes robbing the place let me "go first." so I got my cigarettes and a six pack, walked out the door, and the guys pulled guns on the clerk. I drove away like nothing happened.

Down Range
When by dad was stationed at a weapons lab got to hear'em do trajectory tests on gattlin's, and rapid fire "5's" and "8's". Missed the tests on the "16's", by a few years but the rumor was one non-fused shell landed in someone's back yard, ... way over there ....
These modern days I work in a large building down range of "project style" apartments and stands of woods that may still be hunted. Deer are around this industrial park.
So every couple of months the roofer that does the warrenty work extracts a bullet or two, last time a deer slug ...
I and others have found small caliber "pistol" type slugs laying on the roof.
If I'm the standard American Statistic I'm more likely to be shot by someone I know ... or be road kill like most of the deer.

I used to be a clerk too. We were two behind the counter and that guy came in with a knife, holding it under my nose. The othr clerk jumped on the guy's arm, took and the knife and the robber ran away.ExtremeDrinker wrote:The convenience store on the corner of my street was robbed a while back while I was there. Some other time this junkie woman came in with a syringe. I gave her 10 bucks from the cash machine and she left all happy.
Great memories.
Speaking about robberies, recently where I live, a conveniece store was robbed (for the third time) but the owner was prepared this time and had gotten himself a gun.
So, he shot the robber in the leg, and the robber ran away only to be arrested later.
The store owner was foung guilty of aggrevated assault and crime against the gun law. And was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The robber got 40 hours of community service.

Reminds me of a something that happened in Montreal. There was this convenience store owned by 2 pakistanese brothers, they got robbed a few times, always by the same guy and during the night when they were closed. Then they decided they'd wait for the guy with baseball bats. So that night the robber came again, he broke in, saw the 2 pakis, tried running away but the 2 pakis jumped him up and the guy got beaten to death. The two pakis didn't get anything, pleading for legitimate defense.
