Commercial Announcement: Oh, why doesn't anyone give a shit?

Post by Kashluk »

Ok, so I just wanted to advertise my new website a bit... Check it out at here:

http://www.kuolemaonkaunista.i8.com

The site content has been written in Finnish, but all you non-Finns can just comment the outlook. The whole point of making a site for myself was to publish all the stuff I wrote on newspapers etc. on the internet as well, so that's why it's quite text-orientated.

But anyhow... Keep me informed.

It looks really grainy, and black on red gives it too much of a angsty kid goth feel.

Oh, and not that it probably matters to you but at higher resolutions the background does some funny things.

I could add that DAC isn't in the links page!!

Really? I haven't tested in on others than 800x600 & 1024x768, because I thought those two are propably the most common ones.

And what can I do - maybe I just am an angsty kid goth? But seriously, if it looks grainy, try boosting up your monitor brightness a bit. That should do it. I'm used to the high (70% of max) brightness settings of my own computer screen and I balanced the colors with it, so...

EDIT: Duck and cover can't be found from the link list, because I at the time I wrote the code for that page DAC was totally dead and I had no idea such place as www.thevats.net existed. Maybe I should just wait for the old domain to return, or...?

What's this Finnish slander about exactly, Kash?

Farming also takes lots of cattle. What's your point?
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

I'm sure it looks fine in smaller resolutions, just disragard what I said, after all not many other people run in 1280x1204

The 'slander' is from a jok(ish) national stereotype -site. There's a list of those general stereotypes and cynical responses to them. That one made me laugh big time, so I decided to rip it off. Otherwise that stereotype list pretty much sucked.

But what did YOU think of MY shitty homepage?

It was hard on the eyes. Get rid of that crappy background. Otherwise, seems kool and the gang.

Yeah, I guess the left parts of the sword(s) look a bit whacked on the page. I'll fix it soon enough (along with the crappy background), right now I've got to update a website I'm *payed* to build.

what kind of site pays you to work on it when your personal homepage looks like a 14 year old angsty goth's satan worship page?

Finnish is a really neat language.... not that I understand much of it.
I had this finnish friend whose mother insisted on speaking finnish whenever she spoke to me.
I usally just nodded and smiled, and sometimes spiced up the conversation with an occational:
"kikkeli kastike"
or
"koka heleveti heiti mustakoita?"

Very nice sentences you got there, Mis :) But in the latter one the correct form would be "kuka helvetti heitti mustikoita", actually. The toughest points for Swedes seem to be the pronouncing of vowels & double-consonants.

In Swedish the pronunciation of 'o' equals the Finnish pronunciation of 'u'. The Swedish 'Ã¥' is pretty much the same in pronouncing terms as the Finnish 'o'. The double-consonant thing... Well, it can't really be explained, you have to grow up in speaking it to learn it properly .

Yeah, I always get crap from my finnish friends when I try saying things in Finnish.
I shouldn't need to though, there's a reason why Swedish is being teached in finnish schools.

Yeah. Men jag tycker det är ganske dumma, darför att jag bor i en 100% finks grannskap. Inte någon av mina bekantinger pratar svenska, så varför har jag behövt studera det språket för tre år?

And I say this with no prejudice or discrimination - spoken Swedish sounds ultimately gay.

Nja, finsk suger nå mer enn svensk, da det faktisk går ann å forstå svensk (med litt godvilje). Finsk hører ikke bare homofilt ut i muntlig form, men er også ganske så homofilt i skriftlig from :drunk:

Well Kash, the reason why you need to learn Swedish is bacause we plan to reclaim Finland as the Swedish territory it once was.
So you might wanna study some or your welcomeing phrases.
