Wow the level of detail in those maps are almost picture perfect it was almost perfect and I am looking forward to its release.

AFAIK, some of these pictures ARE photograps... but it's not confirmed

I get HL2 for free because I got a Radeon when they had the HL2 Special Offer running....Of course that was about 8 months ago, and I bet the thing probably will expire before the game even comes out. I don't really want the game, but it is free for me. So yay, or something.

@RawonaM: Either it is photography, or a really really polished shot from the in game... Can't tell for sure, because you'd need human characters to tell the difference. Photorealistic creatures AND architecture is too tough of a nut for any developer in one game.

Unless they gave the sun the ability to wash out the upper corners of screenshots, what RawonaM had a link to is more than likely a photograph.

I think, since the top of the page these are on says these images were part of a dev's speech, the pictures might be reference photographs used to help make the engine look right.
