The Chronicles of Riddick

In a rare event, I've bought a game for my xbox, The Chronicles of Riddick. It's actually a pretty good FPS, there are side quests and stuff... not the best I've played, but it does have Ron Pearlman doing some voice acting (not sure who, but he's introduced as a voice actor in the credits).
Anyway, it's a good enough game from what I've played. They say 'fuck' a lot.

Does the girl have clothes on? And I want to see more of that Mercenary chick, if possible.

I heard that the melee combat system is pretty intuative for a console FPS, but alas, I lack an X-Box and have no plans to try and find out. I think I remember reading that it'll be released for PC soon, so we'll find out eventually.

After having played it some more, it's not that great. It's good, for a console FPS< but aiming is just horrible after playing on a PC. The melee combat is done well, though.
Bring on Half Life 2 and Vampire.

I had Chronicles of Riddick on my xbox for awhile for trading it and beating it. So far so good I enjoy the side quest and the challange of not getting fragged like a bitch by those hinking huge security mechs. It is a good game and that's all it won't be absolutley fabulous like Half Life.

I'm gonna find it mildly humorous if HL2 turns out to be as great as Doom 3.
damn

It looks like HL2 will be better than Doom 3 but then again I could be mistaken. HL2 at least looks better as far as environments go.

I didn't really care for the first Half-Life.
Some FPS games feel... well, I used the term "squishy". That's when the creatures in the game seem without substance, and your movement is unrealistic and a little hard to control. Rainbow 6, Half-Life, Unreal 2 and to a lesser extent Halo all had this feeling; so I really don't like them. When this happens, its impossible for me to be immersed in a first-person shooter, because I don't feel like I'm interacting with the game world properly.
Games that get this feeling right, and that I love, are all the Doom games, the original Unreal and the Unreal Tournament franchise, Battlefield 1942 and the Delta force games.

Wow, I felt exactly the opposite with Unreal, Battlefield 1942 AND Delta Force! Never played any of the Unreal Tournamet-thingys, but I felt really really great with R6 and HL.
Maybe it's just a matter of opinion?

The motion in HL and R6 is jerky, rough and makes me want to vomit if I look at it too long.

Tribes 1 = Best FPS ever. End of debate.

I never played Tribes 1, but the day I found a good team-play intensive server on Tribes 2 I was shitting bricks for six months until I lost the CD.

Can't you download it for free now?

I hope so. I'll look into it later. Were any good mods ever made for either Tribes or Tribes 2? I never looked into that and doubt those games are still played with regularity these days anyways...

Shifter mod for T1. High-level gameplay was competitive and fun. Plus, the community was awesome. Shifter ladders are still active, this many years after its release, which just goes to show...
