Classical

Post by Franz Schubert »

Lately I've been obsessed with Beethoven, Dvorak, and Mendelssohn. Specifically, their chamber music (Quintets/Quartets and Trios). What classical have you guys been listening to?

Classical music doesn't fall under the category of sex, drugs or rock 'n roll.

Classical music is good, but I havent really delved into it, but I listen to random classical tracks every now and then, it's relaxing and helps me sleep when falling asleep is difficult.

The brain fog makes keeping track of names more tedious than it should be, so I just listen. If I dislike the sound, off it goes. 'Tis both simple and rewarding. :drunk:

Yeah, I think so, though I haven't seen the film (and have no desire to). Rachmanninov was a permanently depressed russian, but wrote some lovely (and gloomy) music.

I don't know anything about classical music, but I still appreciate it, especially with a nice meal, cheese, baguette bread, a good bottle of wine and a few people discussing round the table.

Speaking of classical music, I just know some famous tracks, but I would like to have more, I like tracks like ride of the valquirias or the ones that old game ''wargasm'' had, any suggestions ?

I've always liked Richard Wagner, but I never really say so because it sounds like when emo dorks say they like Bach to seem smart and sophisticated

Aside from the common favorites (Mozart, Beethoven) I like Wagner and Brahms alot. Almost all classical music that gained some amount of fame is good though.

Edit: Hungarian Dances is probably my favorite work. The ride of the Valkyries also ranks high. Any sort of war scene works well with it. Also, almost any song from "Carmen" is good as well.

I like Philip Glass, if he counts. Aside from him... well.

I've been listening to the soundtrack of Interview With the Vampire recently..Other than that, I've found I rather like Spanish techno and rap.

Pachebel Cannon in D as performed by a string quartet. Specifically this one from the Evangelion sound track. It's fucking amazing. I had a huge stock of classical mp3s but when I formatted I lost them all.

People who listen to classical music only are pretentious morons. Discuss.
