Half life 2
Bought it today
Not 5 discs, but 1 dvd in a nice slim jewel case with no instructions or crappy background story.
Yes you do need to register with steam and register your copy via serial code to steam just to play.
The game unlocks (after about 20 minutes with me) the game files when registration is complete.
load times, So far so bad.. its fucking awful waiting around for five minutes just to get to the main menu... quick saves and loads arent so bad though...
level loading takes between 5 - 15 seconds.. which is a pain at times.
Fucking pain in the ringpiece. But ...
So far its great.. same old weapons(so far, crowbar, 9mm pistol, smg) excellent backdrops, some nice and dark, dreary stuff, some very bright, Some old faces, lots of new ones.
Sound is amazing, and the npc's look mighty nice.
I've only played it for an hour or so, so far, but its a lot more interesting than doom3 already. PLUS.. you can have a flashlight and a gun at the same time.
All in all.. it seems like it was worth the wait. I hope it lasts longer than doom3 and halo 2 did in regards to playing time.

Loading times are a tad long. And unlocking took me around 30 minutes. Other than that I have no problems with HL2. Only just reached the hovercraft boat after battling the first waves of headcrabs/zombies. My first impression of the game is very good.
Oh yeah, I bought the 5 CD version at gamestop. Fucking paper sleaves. At least I have more than a dozen spare cases and there's lots of great CD jewel case covers on the net.

Finally got my problems concerning installation solved.
I've reached chapter 14 in one stride.. took me 11 hours. so far, it seems as short as doom 3 =/
Best part so far have been the ant-lions (Bug-bait part).
But too much repetition imo... it's like playing Doom 3. You've got your zombies, though in variations, and then you've got your evil marines.
And that's about it >=/ everything else you only meet briefly.
Some of the puzzles are good, although a tad easy.
game runs smoothly.

Graphics are nice, sounds are awesome, the beginning is real cool, with the soldiers trying to hit you when you throw a can and stuff, but I really have a problem with shooters involving monsters.
It's really not as satisfying as shooting the shit out of humans and hearing them cry, àla SoF1.

I guess you're right.
I've finished HL2 now.. took me in total 13 hours.
Probably on of the worst endings ever...
I wasn't even sure what I did in the end to finish the game... too fast-paced imo!
And I was hoping to get some more nifty weapons..
not to mention you get to see a bunch of different aliens throughout the citadel, which you don't even get to battle or anything!... bah.
Anyway, has anyone found the multiplayer part yet? because I got a message from steam that my product was fully registered now, but I don't see multiplayer anywhere..

128 shitheap geforce5200
1 gig sd or rdram, cant remember
basic onboard sound.
i think the reason it loads fast compared to some is because its on dvd?
the latter levels seem to take longer, 10 - 30 seconds.
the overwatch gun is great, so is the .357
Shame ye cant get more ammo for either.
