FAME trouble

Hey guys. I wanted simply to play a dude who went roaming the wastes without having to go to trouble with getting all sorts of stuff. AND I wanted to kill some children with this kickass character. It was just meant for fun (I've beaten the game a million times).
Problem is, I've got a new comp with xp pro on it. Installed Fallout 2, installed children patch, installed FAME and installed the generous Klint patch. The children work, but FAME somehow isn't. I start the game with FAME and then I get the intro...but after that the game flips to windows. It's still open so I click on it and it goes back to the game, I start a new game, but Klint isn't very generous...
I tried it with children, tried without them, but it keeps flipping back to windows (as trough ALT-TAB). Is there a solution?
