... and if you like turn based RPGs, you generally have to get a JRPG since there are hardly any TB games from western markets on consoles, or PC.

At least some of them are not bad, even if they are lacking in story choices or decent plots.

'Baldur's Gate' is aRPG. Morrowind sucks. So does Fable, though I haven't played it(I am SO evil). KOTOR is Star Wars which disqualifies it instantly. And Jade Empire must be pretty new because I aven't heard about it.
Besides, 5's not much for every Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Suikoden or other shits.

But Koki, sucking (which is in the eye of the beholder) doesn't preclude a game from being a non-Japanese RPG, which is true about all the games I listed.

There is quite a few of Western RPGs for consoles but most of them suck, and guantlant type hack and slash dont count.

The only reason there has been western RPGs on console lately is because of the XBAWKz, which is mostly PC title type games. Plus the fact you dont have to compete with JRPG on the xbox because no one makes them for it LAWLALAW

I feel privileged to have played the original Gauntlet in its original cabinet with three friends. Games today just don't measure up to the simple majesty of "DON'T TOUCH THAT FUCKING FOOD, IT'S MINE!" and "STOP SHOOTING ME IN THE BACK YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!" Good times were had by all.

You don't get to punch someone for shooting up all the food too often.

Speak for yourself, all my friends are moochers. Both in gauntlet and in the real world.

Padlocks on the fridge and cupboards should help.

We have a Gauntlet II machine at work. It's fun, but you get tired of it pretty quick.

What this forum is saying is that Fallout is the only RPG that is not Japanese and counts as a real RPG. Everything else is shit with a few exceptions. That is why this place is a Fallout-community...?

I have all 3 consoles. Get the GameCube just because it's got the simple yet addictive games like Super Monkey Ball, and fucking Mario.

I don't think I would buy any console with a title called "Fucking Mario" available for it.

*Think for 10 minutes*

Oooh, I get you now. For some reason I just couldn't grasp it. even after I used the dictionary :drunk:

Sure, game CAN suck not being an jRPG, but...

The thing is that ALL RPGs suck in a sense. Because however realistic they try to be, with dialogues and followers leaving you and 34 ways to do each quest and shit, it all comes to combat and these damn hitpoints, "was hit in the eye for no damage", and turns which are goddamn stupid too, because I don't think swordfight cosists of repeately stabbing each other(Hello, Arcanum and BG).

Then there come jRPGs.

Which have NO quests, NO NPC interaction, and all that's left is combat and occasional reading dialogues. And I'm sure you know what I'm getting to - the combat is the same as in normal RPGs, or even worse, because, EXAMPLE: In Arcanum, you can spot enemy from afar, enter combat and shot his head off, and when he has more than one, you have 2-3 turns to shot rest of 'em. In jRPG, you can shot enemy, and then he will do jump which puts Michael Jordan to shame, put axe in your head, then jump back. WEEE! And I won't even talk about things like summons, when your enemies are conveniently waiting for you, or 'random encounters', or the political correctiness(Is there such a word?), or infantilism, or...

...so, uh, whut we were talking about again? :chew:

Twisted Metal Black so far. Trying to wring every penny I can by using Ebay for games. GTA Vice City (cheaper and less hip hop than GTA SA), Tekken 4, Res Evil Code Veronica X and the original Worms lined up next.
