you didnt save any deathclaws in fallout 1 or 2.
True, but they had intelligence in FOT as the Matriarch can talk. Deathclaws are intelligent otherwise they would be all dead. YOu can save deathclaws in FO2. In Vault 13, if you do things a certain way, Horrigan doesn't kill them and they move on.
FO1 there weren't any friendly DCs, just ones that saw the VD as food.
DCs are a lot like parrots. Neither can talk in the common sense of the word but they can imitate sounds that make it sound like they can talk.

well i take it as given that the DC are killed. I think it wraps the whole contraversial subject of talking DC up nicely.
the DC in fot are ignored completely. in fact the whole event of fot is ignored because it was so badly put together. the dc were one of the prime examples of the microforte people not doing their homework.

whats so contraversial about it?
-DCs are made
-DCs escape
-DCs evolve
-DCs can talk
Conclusion: DC's are now reletively intelligent.
They weren't wiped out. and even if the v13 DCs were wiped out, theres alot more.

no, they can talk, and understand what people are saying.
only a few animals should be domesticated... very few. the rest should be wild as hell. means more shit to kill.
B-I-NGO B-I-NGO, B-INGO

A bit off-topic, but that game "bingo bingo, bingo was it's name" is awfully fun!
You guys should try it sometimes... It relaxes especially if there are a lot of chick's around.
Yup. Done it. Believe me or not!

DC should not be able to talk. I dont like the idea of talking animals. The contraversy about talking DC is that really it should not have happend. by having them all dead the issues is closed.
There were not lots of talking DC. The DC in v13 were the result of Enclave experiments and were very limited in number. When horrigan exterminated them there were no more talking DC.

Who says horrigan eliminated all of em?
Remember the Westin Quest where you guard cattle, then 2 DC's come, then leave again and you follow them back to v13?
theres obviously gonna be some DC's out gathering food and whatnot for v13.
to dismiss stuff/all of FOT is fine, to dismiss stuff from Fallout 2 is just nit-picking.

i think that that one zorno or whatever deathclaw that you save from navorrow should have made a little den thing with some dumb deathclaw bitch, and their children where a mix of semi intelligen/intelligent deathclaws.
what if there where travelling jipsies (not like esmerelda, like vags) that would be an alternative to merchant parties and caravans in some areas of the worldmap. they could have camper vans (old silver ones) pulled by brahmin
remember the rumors of "Mono headed brahmin?" lol
when you save woodie in FO2, and in the slaughter house (daughter) they both mention mono headed brahmin.
(i see a special encounter of 1 head vs. 2 heads brahmin battle... er maybe not...lol)
yeap, bears live in colorado and calif, ect, i live in colorado, very dry and mountainus
overall, i think that some animal encounters should be easyer to avoid (if not preditor animals) and most human encounters should be unavoidable, cause they can persue you

Animals will persue too. following scent.
GG I am just totally against talking deathclaws. I think Horrigan is a meticulous person and would wipe out all remnants of the DC. Also when V13 was attacked surely all the DC would return to V13 in order to defend the eggs and mother etc.
Nomads are an interesting idea but they would be random encounters without any quests.

Actually, there was no need for food gathering after the Chosen One fixed the Voice Module. W/that repaired the food synthesizers in the vault worked, and Gruthar had said that they were only hunting/raiding cattle because the synthesizers were broken. I know that this assumes that the Chosen One followed a certain path, but at some point there have to be assumptions about the choices made by the character(s) from the previous game(s).

It seems the smaller animals altered by FEV improve in intelligence and can bread better, while larger animals (including humans) become impotent and stupid. So by theory there should be more smaller critters and very few larger ones.
Not neccesarily, look at Deathclaws. Smarter and Smarter. Humans though become dumber in most cases, but the FEV wasn't introduced to the whole world, remember?
Deathclaws were probably mutated form smaller animals (not many 5 foor something lizards) and became smarter and stronger, plus were not impotent. Humans are larger creatures, and became impotent a lot stronger but also a lot dumber.
Racoons were probably deathclaws.
Have a look at the FEV experiment holodisk 9see it on the dac main page)
It says smaller animals and insects became larger and stronger, while dogs and baboons started to become fucked up.
But radscorpions and geckos (i think) were radiation. Radiation just makes things bigger in the fallout world, while FEV makes it bigger and either dramatically changes your intelligence or you are importent or not.
I think this is because smaller animals HAVE TO
evolve to become stronger and smarter, to adapt to humans being a big threat. Humans meanwhile don't need to become smarter as most of the stuff is already there, they just need to be stronger and tougher.
Talking deathclaws-I like to think you can just pick any fallout game up and start playing it without playing a previous game. Same with movies. So if you're happily going along fallout 3 without playing 2 you'll wonder why a large lizard is talking, and everything else isn't.
personally I think deathclaws came from the FEV infected racoons that escaped, and being still
injected with FEV (not dipped) and having it run around there blood-stream they would have evolved themselves to the wasteland, beocming the perfect beats to survive against it.
They are the toughest, strongest critter. Also probably the largets and smartest.
They are lizards, perfect for the desert like area of the wastes
In fo:t mabye they became hairy because it was colder. Again, adapting to their enviroment
I assume the enclave experiments on them involved FEV, then bringing the ability to talk and lose the beast-like hostility like the DC's in the north areas.
In fo2 also they worked out the importance of a vault. It provided more safety than a cave, and also worked out how to use a little technology.
I think they could be pretty dangerous in fo3 if they worked out how to use armour and guns.

A) FEV in general to humans does not make them dumb- quite the contrary, it makes there intellegence almost super human. If, however, you are exposed to radiation for a prolonged period of time, the fev turns you into an imbicile.
FEV2 made humans infirtile because the FEV exposed cells view gemets as half cells.
C) Bunnies in FO3? Jesus, OTB, what where you on?
D)Domestication, for the large part is a good idea. I want my geko, damn it!
E) Agreed. Hairless DC's.
F) In FO3 I want less critters and more human enemies. Okay, maybe some new creatures, but mostly the same.
H) Bears I like.
G) How about a cantalope/buffalow cross bread? 8O

lol, its antilope, not cantilope...
i used to say that when i was little, lol
if FO3 spans the entirety of the US, the random encounter screens would have (hills?.. 3d engine..) different trees, and dirt, and POSSIBLY grass! lol

Actually no, I think he meant the plant, I found this on ask Jeeves.
Just out total boredom
Cantalope
Also known as Muskmelon
A round melon with a fragrant, juicy orange flesh which provides excellent sources of Vitamins A and C. Choose melons that are heavy for their size, have a sweet fragrance and give to gentle pressure. A ripe cantalope should have beige skin, green indicates under-ripeness. Store ripe fruit in the refrigerator, under-ripe fruit at room temperature to ripen. To serve, cut in half and scoop out the seeds. Serve as a "fruit bowl" or peel and cut up the orange flesh.

I think they should have the DAC-community special encounter in Fo3.
Like the Unwashed Villagers in Fo2!!
Imagine: A bunch of angry veterans (level 50 or something) in leather jackets beating up n00bs (around level 1-5) in Fo:T-power armors!
And two normally clothed civilians in the middle, named Killian and Kreegle, shouting "Stop that!" "Hey, you there!" "Now that's it! I've had enough!" etc.
It would be great...

Nah, some kind of special encounter with Tim Cain and others who made Fallout 1 is appropriate though.

So we can kill them?
If you're going to include one fallout community you're going to have to include them all...
yes, DAC and NMA. w00
I think a bunch of grumpy people sitting round moaning about robots and power armour, and some little kid that keeps shouting how fot was cool.
yah.
