Saw Rambo last night. It was fucking awesome. No bullshit love stories or government conspiracies. The movie was a little bit short, but very tightly woven together.
The Burmese are evil mother fuckers and the stuff they do is insane. Stallone could have easily gone the route that Saw and other gore porn movies have done lately and really draw out the deaths and dismemberments, but he didn't and it still feels brutal. Way more brutal than the previous three. The ending is good, too.
Overall, way WAY better than First Blood 2 and 3. Almost as good as 1, which was brilliant. I would have liked another 20 minutes to know the other characters except it wouldn't necessarily add to the experience.
Go see it. I grew up with Stallone's and Schwarzenegger's movies, and they created the action genre. Movies like what they made will never come again. Unlike Arnold's mess that was Terminator 3, Sly goes out on a high note with Rambo.

Oh yeah, did anyone else notice they used First Blood's alternate ending in the dream sequence?

I forgot to ask
does Col. Trautman do his "It's over Johnny" bit at the end?

There are a lot of Bladerunner-inspired buildings in Japan.

It's in the dream part. Obviously they couldn't get him in the new movie because Richard Crenna has been dead for a couple years.

Ha, I'm glad to hear that.
I always feel nostalgia whenever I see Schartzie in his suit, shaking hands with a buncha politicians. I remember the good old days of action heroes.

He recruited him, trained him, commanded him, pulled his butt out of the fire god knows how many times.
He's the only family Rambo has.
