Rolling Stone magazine has released its list of the
100 Greatest Singers of All Time. Aretha Franklin is #1. Bob Dylan is a shocking - shocking! - #7. John Lennon, a brilliant songwriter with the Beatles but never more than an adequate singer, and a mostly terrible songwriter on his own, is at #5. Michael Jackson is lingering down at #25. Christina Aguilera ranks ahead of Mariah Carey. Annie Lennox ranks at #93, possibly the only fair ranking on the entire list. Lou Reed, frontman of the most overrated band in the history of mankind, and a plainly awful singer, is #62. k.d. lang, in possession of inarguably one of the most beautiful voices of the last 40 years, is nowhere to be found. But Willie Nelson is there!
A travesty, utterly, and in every sense of the word. Discuss.

Rolling Stone always makes shitty lists. They randomly decided that "Like a Rolling Stone" was the #1 song of all time. Now while I like Dylan and I like the song (and I liked his response to beign told it was selected as #1 even better) I have never really thought it was the best song ever or even in the top 10.
